Newcastle United will hope that Alexander Isak can fire them to a fifth consecutive win when they face Manchester United on Sunday.

After Newcastle beat Leicester City on Monday night, Eddie Howe’s side return to St James’ Park for the first of back-to-back home games.

The Magpies are up against Manchester United, who are enduring a difficult season. Ruben Amorim’s side will start the weekend in 13th place, 15 points behind Newcastle United.

As for Newcastle, they know that victory will move them another step closer towards qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Howe’s side have momentum, and this is Geordie Boot Boys’ predicted Newcastle United XI to face Manchester United.

No fresh options at the back for Newcastle United

After keeping a clean sheet against Leicester, it will be the same goalkeeper and defence that starts against Manchester United.

Sven Botman has been spotted in Dubai as he continues his recovery from injury, while Lewis Hall will not return to fitness until next season.

That means that Howe will stick with the same backline that has started the Magpies’ previous four matches.

No Anthony Gordon in the Newcastle starting XI

While Anthony Gordon is no longer suspended, it remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to feature on Sunday.

The 24-year-old missed the win over Leicester due to injury, having taken a nasty whack after coming off the bench during England’s win over Albania.

Even if Gordon is fit to return, it will be Harvey Barnes who starts on the left of attack against the Red Devils.

Barnes is playing extremely well and will be eager for that to continue this weekend. He has got either a goal or an assist in his previous three Premier League games, and will now look to extend that run to four.

Alexander Isak fit to face Manchester United

During the Magpies’ trip to the King Power Stadium, Howe decided to substitute Alexander Isak in the 72nd minute.

The Newcastle United manager made the decision to rest his top scorer, but Howe insisted that Isak is 100% fit after the game.

The 25-year-old will hope to prove that is the case against Man United, with Isak one goal away from equalling his tally from last season. He currently has 24 goals in all competitions, having netted 25 in the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign.

Predicted XI vs Man United: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento; Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Barnes.
