Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has made it clear what his view is amid the Jesse Lingard links. The former Magpies forward took to Twitter to make his feelings known – that he wants PIF to sign the Manchester United attacking midfielder.
It was in response to the content creator ‘Statman Dave’. The tweet was a video that discussed whether or not the 29-year-old English midfielder would be a good signing for Newcastle.
Shearer’s response was a clearly one-worded answer of, ‘YES’. Some fans will certainly agree with the legend’s view and will hope he’ll arrive on Tyneside before the window shuts.
Newcastle prepared to do all they can to land Lingard, which will certainly please Shearer
Transfer expert David Ornstein spoke on Sky Sports stating that Newcastle would be, ‘prepared to throw everything to get Jesse Lingard’.
Lingard’s contract runs out this summer and doesn’t want to leave Manchester United this January. As a free agent in the summer, he can decide his own fate on which club he goes to next.
It seems as if the player would prefer a loan move, while Manchester United want a permanent deal. To land Lingard they’ll have to blow him away with a hefty offer, which they are willing to do. Which would make Shearer a very happy man.
The next ten days or so are key if the Magpies are to land Lingard
The transfer window shuts at the end of January. This means Newcastle only have ten days to sign the players they want to escape the drop.
Acquiring Lingard either on loan or permanently would be much needed for their midfield. He’d offer that extra spark of creativity and excitement that is missing at the moment.
Under Mike Ashley, the thought of going all out for a player seemed like an alien concept. But it’s so refreshing to see Newcastle actually try this window. There’s definitely a chance a deal might not be met, but you have to respect PIF for being willing to go all out for Lingard.
