Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer will soon be back on the touchlines in extremely bizarre circumstances.
15 years on from his interim managerial role at Newcastle United, club legend Alan Shearer is set to become a coach in a new football tournament coined the ‘Baller League’.
In a recent episode of The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer gave an emphatic response when asked about returning to management.
Shearer said: “No, it’s been too long. I’m very happy sat with you two idiots anyway! So why would I want to go back into that?”
An actual management job may be off the cards, but the 54-year-old is set to join co-hosts Gary Lineker and Micah Richards as coaches in the new tournament.

Alan Shearer set to join KSI at UK Baller League
Via his Instagram, Shearer shared a video on Monday revealing that he is set to play a part in the UK Baller League tournament.
He is joined by a host of former footballing stars including John Terry, ex-Arsenal trio Jens Lehmann, Robert Pires, and Freddie Ljungberg, and Real Madrid icon Luis Figo.
The Baller League is a unique football tournament that has grown in popularity having started in Germany. It is now moving to the UK and is set to be headed by YouTube sensation KSI.
Shearer, Richards and Lineker will collectively coach one of the 12 teams competing in the tournament, which consists of a competitive six-a-side football league that combines the traditional game with new rules.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, Baller League’s UK president KSI said: “I have high hopes for what this league can bring to the sport.
“We’re bringing a different style to football, a different energy to the normal and showing a different level of entertainment to the sport. Very exciting times ahead!”
Newcastle fans can tune in to watch Alan Shearer in action
Shearer is set to play a big role in the UK Baller League when it starts in March.
The tournament is expected to last two months with a winner crowned in May. Newcastle fans can tune into live streams to watch Shearer’s team in action.

Teams are set to consist of players scouted from across the country while ex-professionals and free agents have also taken part in other variations of the competition.
