Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has named his latest Premier League team of the week, and it includes as many as four Toon players.
After the incredible 3-3 draw with Manchester City, the Magpies dominate Shearer’s side, which also includes reported target Jack Harrison.
But it’s Eddie Howe’s side who takes centre stage, with Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin named in Shearer’s team.

All four Newcastle players worthy of being in Shearer’s team of the week
Starting with Pope, it speaks volumes about how well he played despite conceding three goals. If it hadn’t been for him we probably wouldn’t have been able to put another point on the board.
The £10million man has already proven his worth, justifying Howe’s decision to replace Martin Dubravka.
Next up is Trippier, and his pressing felt like the catalyst for Newcastle’s inspired first half performance. After a slow start, the Magpies began to get in City’s faces. It was Trippier leading the charge and getting us on the front foot.
And then the free-kick. What a goal. Shearer summed it up perfectly.

“The right-back capped an impressive display with a brilliant, trademark free-kick,” he said.
That’s his third Newcastle goal so far, all of which have came from direct free-kicks. When we get a set piece in a strong position, it’s almost as good as a penalty as long as Trippier’s on the pitch.
Third man in the team is Almiron, who has been praised for his ‘tireless running’ by Shearer. He got the goal his performance deserved, and sent a message to Jack Grealish in the process.
And finally, Allan Saint-Maximin. The Frenchman was incredible on Sunday. Playing up against Kyle Walker is difficult, but Saint-Maximin made him look ordinary.

All three of Newcastle’s goals came through the 25-year-old, and Shearer has spoke very highly of his performance.
“Tormented Man City with his dazzling dribbling and trickery and created the first two goals,” he said.
Saint-Maximin truly was dazzling against the champions. He was unstoppable at times. Now he needs to play like that on a regular basis.
It was a special afternoon for Newcastle, with so many players shining. Shearer has paid tribute to four of them, and they are all deserving of being in his team of the week.
