Miguel Almiron was a key man for Newcastle United at the weekend, scoring twice for Steve Bruce’s side against Southampton in the Premier League.
The Paraguay international added to Joe Willock’s opener, striking with his left foot from inside the box which deflected in off Jan Bednarek.

The goal was given to him after the shot was deemed to be on target.
After conceding to new Saints signing Takumi Minamino, Almiron then scored his second – robbing Ryan Bertrand of possession before slotting home at Alex McCarthy’s near post.
The South American was superb at St. James’ Park and was a menace for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s depleted side.

In the eyes of Shearer, Almiron’s display on Saturday was actually his best in a Magpies shirt to date.
Including the player in his latest Team of the Week, he said (official Premier League): “His best game for Newcastle. Magnificent. Two goals and ran miles for the team when they were down to nine men.”
Almiron can fire Newcastle up the table
Newcastle have been improving of late, and arguably no one has looked better in the more attacking formation than £42,000-a-week star Almiron (Spotrac).

He’s starting to show why Newcastle forked out £20 million for him in January 2019 (ESPN).
Not only is he technically gifted, but Almiron’s work rate is extremely invaluable for the Magpies.
Having him fit and in form will be crucial for Newcastle if they are to start heading up the table.
