This past week or so the media have been trying to push the narrative that Eddie Howe is under pressure as Newcastle United boss in the wake of the slow start to the season.
Of course all Newcastle fans and journalists who are actually close to the club know how ridiculous that idea is, but it hasn’t stopped the stories running rampant.
In fact, it got so bad that that the board have had to come out and publicly state that Howe is under no pressure.
Howe doesn’t need anyone to tell him when things aren’t right
Thankfully, Howe himself is paying no mind to the stories telling the media this morning that he doesn’t listen to that noise, saying he’s ‘immune‘ to the criticism.
There does seem to be some common sense in the media with Alan Brazil clearly flabbergasted by the notion of Eddie Howe facing the chop, saying on talkSPORT today that it’s a ‘ridiculous notion’ before handing over to former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew for his thoughts.

Pardew agreed with Brazil saying: “It is ridiculous let’s be honest. I’ve been surprised to hear they’ve had to come out publicly and say something, the board. I don’t think he needs that, that’s only going to add fuel to the fire so to speak.
“Let’s be honest, it looks like he’s signed well this summer on top of a very good team and obviously the results haven’t been what he wants but I think there’s plenty to come from that Newcastle team and Eddie Howe to be sure.”
A win for Newcastle tomorrow will silence all these rumours
It’s rare that Alan Brazil has anything positive to say around Newcastle so for him to come out and condemn these rumours is no small thing.

Alan Pardew, despite not being the most popular figure on Tyneside, rarely has anything negative to say about the club, so it’s no surprise that he’s excited for Newcastle’s future. In fairness to Pardew, he’s not as loathed as some other former managers, in fact given what came after him, he might actually be thought of quite fondly now.
As Pardew said, there absolutely is plenty to come from Eddie Howe and Newcastle and I suspect that starts with three points at St James’ Park tomorrow evening when Newcastle take on Brentford.
