With Bruno Guimaraes all but set to sign a new deal at Newcastle United the club now have their next target in their sights.

This weekend saw reports that Bruno Guimaraes was all set to commit his future to Newcastle by signing a new deal that would in effect keep him at the club until 2028.

With those talks now wrapped up, 90mins is reporting that Joelinton will now be approached by the club to open talks on a new deal.

Joelinton signed a six-year deal in 2019 when he joined Newcastle

Joelinton signed a six year deal with the Magpies when he joined from Hoffenheim in 2019 for a then club-record fee of £40million.

Nobody could have expected the journey the Brazilian has been on between now and then but if there was any player at Newcastle who has earned themselves a new deal it has to be Joelinton.

From laughing stock to Brazilian international, Joelinton has grafted harder than anyone at the club and is now a massive part of this Newcastle side under Eddie Howe.

It should be a deal that gets wrapped up quickly

Currently sidelined with a knee injury, Eddie Howe and Newcastle fans alike are hoping he’ll be back to fitness sooner rather than later.

In terms of convincing Joelinton to commit his future to the club, it shouldn’t be so difficult. The Brazilian is said to be very happy at the club and has forged an amazing friendship with Bruno Guimaraes who just committed another five years to life on Tyneside.

It should be a deal that moves pretty quickly unless his agent starts asking for the moon on a stick.
