According to Goal, Newcastle United have enquired about the availability of Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The Welshman moved to Turin back in 2019 when his Arsenal contract expired.
Sadly, the move to Juventus hasn’t really worked out. Ramsey has played 65 times in total for the Italian side, scoring six goals.
He’s won a Serie A title and a Coppa Italia, but failed to play a major role.
Now he’s being linked with a move away from Juve. However, is a move to Newcastle really a possibility?
The Magpies are interested in a box-to-box midfielder, with Arsenal’s Joe Willock the number one target.
Steve Bruce has made it clear he wants to re-sign the 21-year-old, but a deal is yet to be done.
Newcastle need to look for alternatives, and it appears they may have found one in Ramsey.
Will Aaron Ramsey really come to Newcastle?
According to Goal, Newcastle have asked Juventus where they stand with regards to the future of Ramsey.
They add that the former Gunner has plenty of admirers in England.
Ramsey would be a sensational signing for Newcastle, and can play the role of a box-to-box midfielder.
We saw him do it multiple times for Arsenal in the past, and they have certainly missed him since his departure two years ago.
However, a move to St James’ Park feels unlikely.
While it would likely be a loan move, because that’s all Newcastle seem to be interested in right now, wages would surely be a problem.
According to BBC Sport, he signed a £400,000-a-week deal with Juventus. Considering our financial position, we’d likely struggle to cover a quarter of that…
Put this one down in the ‘fantasy’ column.
