It wasn’t too long ago that Newcastle United looked like the favourites to sign Kieran Tierney.
After being expected to make the move earlier in the summer, the Magpies reignited their interest in the Arsenal man as they eyed a potential loan deal with an option or obligation to buy.
With contact made between the two clubs and Eddie Howe keen to work with Tierney, it came as a surprise when Newcastle decided to sign Lewis Hall instead.
The deal for the teenager has ended Newcastle‘s interest in Tierney, who is now running out of time to find a new club.
He looks certain to leave Arsenal before the transfer window closes, and his Gunners career hit another low point on Thursday.

Kieran Tierney training away from Arsenal first-team
Mikel Arteta and his players are preparing to face Fulham this weekend on the back of winning their opening two games. However, they will have to make a change as Takehiro Tomiyasu is suspended.
He played at left-back on Monday night against Crystal Palace where he was sent off, but he will not be replaced by Tierney.
That is because the Sky Sports cameras have been watching Arsenal train on Thursday, and noted that the 26-year-old is one of multiple players who are training separately away from the main group. He is working alongside the likes of Folarin Balogun and Nuno Tavares, who also look set to leave Arsenal.
Things are going from bad to worse for Tierney, who must have been really keen to join Newcastle. A move up north would have given him the chance to play regularly and compete in the Champions League.

It would have been a fresh start for the Scottish ‘warrior‘, but instead Newcastle opted to bring in Hall. While Tierney would have been a better signing in the short-term, the Magpies have looked at the bigger picture and brought in a player who could still be at St James’ Park in 10 years’ time.
For Tierney’s sake, hopefully he gets a move away from Arsenal in the next week. However, it will not be to Newcastle.
