Joelinton has been an injury doubt for Newcastle United heading into this weekend’s game against Leeds United, but it looks like the 26-year-old is going to be good to go.

The Newcastle enforcer was seen hobbling after the defeat to Arsenal, with Joelinton unable to put weight on his foot after an incredibly physical game.

That suggested that he was going to be a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Yorkshire, but a new update from the club paints a much more positive picture.

Joelinton spotted in Newcastle training

The club have released a selection of photos from Wednesday’s training session. The biggest surprise is Joe White being involved. He is back with the Magpies after his loan spell at Exeter City came to an end.

There is also an appearance from Joelinton, who appears to have shaken off any injury concerns that were lingering from the 2-0 loss against Arsenal.

That is a massive boost for Eddie Howe, who has started the Brazilian in 35 of Newcastle’s 42 games so far this season. He has virtually been an ever-present in league and cup, highlighting his importance to this team.

Joelinton should now be good to start at Elland Road, which is excellent news – especially as doubts continue to linger around Sean Longstaff’s fitness.

No Longstaff in Toon training

The 25-year-old was not seen in training, casting further doubt over a possible return this weekend. It has been claimed that he is still a doubt, but does at least have a chance of featuring against Leeds.

There was also no Jamaal Lascelles, whose season has came to a premature end. The centre-back has picked up a calf problem that will rule him out of Newcastle’s remaining four games.

Elsewhere, Allan Saint-Maximin has trained with the group as he continues to build his fitness back up. The Frenchman featured off the bench against Arsenal, and will likely have to settle for a similar role on Saturday.
