One of Newcastle United’s transfer targets and star striker has now responded to a post from loanee Yankuba Minteh who is enjoying a positive spell in the Netherlands.
Newcastle registered their interest in Feyenoord striker last year as he was on red hot form and now he only looks to have gotten better in this new season.
Minteh posted on Instagram to celebrate his sixth goal of the season and his teammate was keen to show his support for the young Newcastle man in the comment section.
Newcastle target reacts to Minteh
Since Newcastle first showed interest in the striker, Gimenez looks to have gone from strength to strength as he netted his 20th league goal of the season on Sunday with Minteh scoring in the same game.
Gimenez has also bagged twice in this season’s Champions League tournament, though it wasn’t quite enough to see them progress into the next round of either European competition.
Both he and Minteh looked to have formed a solid bond and could end the season on a high if manager Arne Slot continues to play the pair in Feyenoord’s attack for the remainder of the campaign.
Newcastle will no doubt be watching their loan star with a close eye in every game, but they may also be monitoring the Mexican ahead of a big summer transfer window.
On Instagram, Minteh posted: “Thank you for your support today!..on to the next game”
Gimenez then responded: “Good job bro”.

Newcastle need a new striker this summer
It’s becoming more and more likely that Newcastle will be in the market for a new striker this summer as the future of Callum Wilson at the club looks in doubt given his injury record.
Alexander Isak, as quality as he is, cannot lead the front line on his own for an entire season and needs a quality backup to rotate with so that Eddie Howe can keep the Swede as sharp as possible.
Gimenez is clearly a talented striker and will not be short of suitors in the summer if he keeps this current form up, but whether or not he would be willing to join Newcastle is another matter.
One thing that would work in their favour is the relationship he has built up with Minteh who may have a part to play under Howe next season as another option at right-wing, especially if Miguel Almiron is moved on.
