This summer Newcastle United released academy Goalkeeper Dan Langley after the youngster spent last season out on two separate loan spells.
Since being released by Newcastle, Dan Langley has had a trial at League One side Carlisle United which, according to the News & Star, didn’t go particularly well.
Dan Langley was given his chance in the Newcastle first team in a couple of pre-season friendlies in 2021. His debut was in the game against York City closely followed by an outing against Doncaster Rovers.

His inclusion was more forced than by merit as Martin Dubravka picked up a knock and Newcastle’s other goalkeepers were forced to self-isolate after a COVID outbreak.
However, the young 6’7″ stopper didn’t look out of place. While it was evident he wasn’t first-team ready, there was a feeling that we had a good keeper on our hands for the future.

For whatever reason, though, things just didn’t work out and last season saw Langley loaned out to Gateshead for the first half of the season making 12 appearances in National League.

Langley returned to the club at the end of that loan period and was immediately sent back out to National League North side Spennymoor Town going on to make 13 appearances for The Moors.

After that it was game over for Langley at Newcastle and the 22-year-old was released by the club and now, after an unsuccessful trial at League One side Carlisle, Langley is once again without a club.
Fingers crossed the youngster lands on his feet soon as there’s definitely some talent there, maybe he’s just lacking that self-belief.
