Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after witnessing Demba Ba score against Manchester United in the Champions League last night.
The ex-Magpies striker slotted past Dean Henderson to open the scoring for İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. who remarkably went on to beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men by two goals to one.
Despite the calmness of his strike, Manchester United’s dreadful defending must be pointed out – Ba was allowed to run unchallenged from his own half to score!
Unsurprisingly given Ba’s status as a cult hero at St James’ Park, a number of Newcastle fans have reacted to this incident on Twitter.
The Senegalese striker scored an impressive 29 goals in 58 games for the Magpies, averaging exactly a goal every two games – an excellent strike rate, to say the least.
Even at 35 years of age, the former Chelsea hitman is still doing it on the biggest stage against one of Europe’s most historic clubs.
His goal last night is made all the more impressive by the fact that he suffered a serious leg break in 2016, which could’ve ended his career.
However, the Sèvres-born centre-forward has battled back to continue doing what he does best – scoring goals.
Let’s see how the Newcastle fans on Twitter reacted to his strike against the Red Devils…

Demba Ba is a class act, he smashed in goals for @NUFC – we took a risk on him as he had a track record of injuries before we signed him, he paid us back in lieu of our doubts.
I wish him well. I don’t know why people are surprised about this. Ba is a brilliant professional. https://t.co/VzmoT1qeUu
