Australian wonderkid Garang Kuol got off the mark for his loan club FC Volendam yesterday but his goal wasn’t enough to stop a heavy loss.
Newcastle snapped up young Australian star Garang Kuol last year just past the transfer deadline meaning his move didn’t come to fruition until January.
After his arrival in the North East the youngster was loaned out to Scottish Premiership side Hearts for the remainder of the season.
Kuol’s start to life at Newcastle could have been a lot better
It was a move that turned out to be a disaster for the youngster, seeing a change in manager shortly after his arrival and not getting anywhere near the game time he was expecting and ultimately returning to Newcastle with very little experience gained.
This season Newcastle were determined to not repeat their mistake and Kuol was loaned out to Eredivisie side FC Volendam who currently sit one of the bottom of the Dutch league with no points.

That league position was cemented after Volendam went down 3-1 to Fortuna Sittard yesterday, but it was Garang Kuol who opened the scoring for the visitors with a strike that shows why Newcastle were so keen to snap him up last near.
Kuol now needs to prove that he’s ready for the Newcastle challenge
The ball came to Kuol on the far side of the area where he took a touch and bent an inch perfect shot into the top corner.

It was a goal that oozed class and should give Kuol the confidence to kick on a bit more after the Hearts disaster.
Kuol’s aim this season needs to impress enough at Volendam that Eddie Howe doesn’t even contemplate another season out on loan for the Socceroo.
