Australian international Garang Kuol joined Newcastle United mid-way through last season and was loaned out to Hearts to further his development.

After joining Newcastle in January, 18-year-old Australian international Garang Kuol was immediately sent to Hearts on loan, but things didn’t really go according to plan in Scotland.

Kuol’s arrival coincided with a drop in form by Hearts and a managerial change. He was barely used by both managers and were it not for an international break where Kuol got to return home and ultimately score his first international goal, there’s no knowing what could have happened to his confidence.

Things never really clicked for Newcastle’s younsger Kuol in Scotland

Upon his return to Scotland not a lot changed in terms of his playing time, which apparently didn’t go down too well with Newcastle chiefs.

Kuol did eventually get his name on the Hearts scoresheet in their penultimate game of the season scoring against Rangers, but ultimately the loan move was seen as a failure.

Now Kuol seems determined to have a better season next time around. While it’s still expected he will go out on loan again, Kuol is making sure he is as ready as can be.

Currently in Italy, the forward has posted a few pictures on Instagram of him training with the caption “By all means necessary”

It’s still unclear where Kuol will be playing his football next season, but I’m sure there’ll be a lot more thought and a fair few demands by Newcastle when an agreement is made. There’s not much point loaning out a player to further their development if they aren’t going to get in the first-team.

There’s still the possibility that Newcastle decide to keep him around for the reserves so they can keep a closer eye on him with a view to testing him out in the first-team, but a loan still makes more sense right now.
