Callum Wilson opened his account for the season on Saturday, scoring Newcastle’s second in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
However, the Toon forward believes his team could have and should have scored more. That is what he told NUFC TV after the game, naming Newcastle’s lack of goals as the only disappointment of the afternoon.
It was a near perfect start to the season for Eddie Howe, whose side put in a sensational performance to blow Forest away. However, the game did need a moment of magic from Fabian Schar to break the deadlock.
Before his wonder-goal, Newcastle were struggling to find a way through a resolute Forest defence. Chances were coming and going, and it felt like it was going to be one of those afternoons for the Magpies.
Wilson was particularly frustrated, as seen in a video released on the club’s official YouTube channel.

Extra footage of Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Forest has been released by the club, filmed on two different cameras near each goal. It gives fans a different view of the action and the chance to relive the game through different eyes.
The video shows how dominant Newcastle were on Saturday, but it also highlights the frustration at one point.
Early in the second half as the Toon began to pile on the pressure, Miguel Almiron played Saint-Maximin in on goal. The Frenchman could either go for goal or pass it across to Wilson to put into an empty net.
He chose the former, and his effort was saved by Dean Henderson. As you can see in the video from 6:55 onwards, Wilson was absolutely fuming with Saint-Maximin. The number nine had found that space he had craved all game, only for Saint-Maximin to go for goal himself.
It was a frustrating moment in the game, but Wilson didn’t need to be angry for long. As the resulting corner was half cleared by Forest, the ball fell to Schar who thundered an effort into the top corner.
The chance passed up moments earlier was forgotten, and Newcastle had lift off.
Should Saint-Maximin have passed it? Absolutely, but in his defence he didn’t have a lot of time to think. Other than that moment of poor judgement, Saint-Maximin was excellent on Saturday and looks in great shape for the new season.
He terrorised the Forest defence with his dribbling ability, but also showed a willingness to release the ball when necessary. The 25-year-old was more of a team player, which is only going to help Newcastle this season.
Saint-Maximin was arguably Newcastle’s most dangerous player on Saturday, but he really should have an assist to his name already. It angered Wilson, who luckily scored his first of the season later on.
