Newcastle United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host Nottingham Forest.
It has been a mixed start to the season for Newcastle United. They sit 15th in the Premier League table heading into the last round of fixtures before the October international break.
They should, however, head into Sunday’s game with renewed confidence. Eddie Howe’s side beat Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 in the Champions League in their best performance of the campaign to date.
Generally very strong at home, it would be a huge disappointment if Newcastle dropped points at St James’ Park.
Forest are yet to win in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou and, having played on Thursday, do not arrive on Tyneside in the best possible shape.

Newcastle United’s record against Nottingham Forest
Since Forest were promoted back to the Premier League in 2022, Newcastle have won six of their seven games against them.
They did, however, thrash the Magpies 4-1 at St James’ on Boxing Day in 2023.
That is their only victory against Howe’s side, so Newcastle will be heading into the game as strong favourites.
Newcastle simply have to win here. With the international break around the corner, they can ill-afford another poor performance in the Premier League.
If Newcastle are at their best, there’s little reason why they cannot build on Wednesday night’s showing.
