What Joelinton did outside the dressing room after Newcastle beat Wolves

Newcastle United picked up their first Premier League win since January 15th against Wolves on Sunday, and they were able to do it without Joelinton.

After picking up a booking in the defeat to Manchester City, Joelinton was suspended for the clash with Wolves. He will also miss this Friday’s trip to Nottingham Forest.

It was a blow to not have the Brazilian, but Joe Willock came into the Newcastle midfield and played brilliantly. He provided the assist for Miguel Almiron’s winner, and was given a new nickname by Bruno Guimaraes after the game.

Eddie Howe’s side did not miss Joelinton’s presence in midfield too much, as they leapfrogged Liverpool back into fifth place.

There were huge celebrations from the Newcastle players, who were met with a familiar face when they headed back to the dressing room.

The Newcastle United Twitter account have released a video of the players heading back to the Toon dressing room after beating Wolves 2-1.

They shake hands with club staff and reserve goalkeeper Mark Gillespie, and are also greeted by Joelinton.

It was clearly a surprise to see the Brazilian there, with Matt Ritchie shouting ‘Joelinton!’ after being the first to see the Magpies’ number seven.

He shares a few words with the Spanish-speaking players, before Bruno Guimaraes screams ‘vamos’ and passionately embraces his fellow countryman.

There are also hugs from Graeme Jones and Allan Saint-Maximin, who takes time to praise Joelinton for his ‘good style’.

Joelinton then went into the dressing room, and took part in the traditional post-win photo. It also included Anthony Gordon and Emil Krafth, who are currently out with injuries.

It was great to see Joelinton in attendance, eagerly waiting to congratulate his teammates on a crucial victory. It sums up the fantastic team spirit that Eddie Howe has created at St James’ Park.

Even when he can’t play, Joelinton is in attendance, cheering on his Toon teammates. And he is obviously a popular figure in the dressing room when you see how delighted the players are to see him.
