Troy Deeney says Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is ‘best striker in Premier League’ for one simple reason

It’s all becoming rather routine for Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe’s side won again to move up to fifth in the Premier League, putting Aston Villa to the sword in a rampant 3-0 victory.

Newcastle have now won three League games on the bounce, scoring 11 goals in the process and keeping three clean sheets.

It has been a fantastic return to form for Howe’s side, who also reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals by thrashing Brentford at St James’ Park.

Indeed, it feels a while ago now that the Newcastle United manager questioned the attitude of his players following their League loss at the Bees earlier this month.

There are a number of key Newcastle stars all in form at the same time. The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon were brilliant against Villa, while Alexander Isak is on a brilliant run.

Isak has now scored in five consecutive games and was hailed by pundit Troy Deeney.

Speaking to BBC Final Score, Deeney believes Isak’s ability to always be in the right place at the right time makes him the Premier League’s best on current form.

“It’s a nice little tap-in for Alexander Isak. You’d prefer 100 of them than one great goal,” he said.

“He is the best striker in the Premier League on current form. He is always in the right spot. That’s four goals in two games for him.”

While clearly a talented player, Isak didn’t exactly boast the most consistent of prolific records prior to joining Newcastle.

Still, Howe was always of the belief the Sweden star had the tools to score regularly in what is generally considered the hardest league in the world and duly paid a club-record fee to sign him in 2022.

Clearly, that has paid off and Isak is now looking like a £63million bargain more than anything. With him firing away, Newcastle really could achieve anything this year.
