Tottenham will be without record signing Tanguy Ndombele for Sunday’s clash with Newcastle.

Steve Bruce’s new signings are yet to make a splash in the Premier League, but Maurcio Pochettino’s record arrival has already laid down a marker.

His debut was certainly emphatic, scoring a cracker from distance as Spurs came from behind to beat Aston Villa. Against Manchester City, he was at the heart of the action, proving why he cost Tottenham so much money. £62.8 million to be exact.

But the Frenchman won’t feature against the Magpies this weekend. Tottenham have confirmed that he has a thigh injury which will rule him out of the game.

While it’s one less player for Newcastle to worry about, it’s not as if Spurs are shy of options in the middle of the park. Bruce’s side will still need to put in a huge performance if they’re to take anything from their first trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As for the Spurs fans, they don’t seem too concerned about Ndombele’s absence. After Sunday’s game, their attentions turn to the North London Derby against Arsenal.

It’s clear that most Tottenham fans are already looking past the game against Newcastle, instead focusing on the clash with their arch rivals.

Could the players be thinking the same? Will Tottenham take Newcastle for granted, perhaps handing an opportunity to the Magpies? We live in hope.
