Tino Livramento scored his first ever Newcastle United goal against Wolves yesterday after a brilliant driving run at the end of the game.
The defender has struggled to get minutes in this team with Kieran Trippier keeping him out at right-back, but an injury to the England international have Livramento an opportunity and he certainly took it.
Speaking to Andy Sixsmith, Livramento claimed that Newcastle had worked on that exact move during training and that he was just happy to see it end up in the back of the net.
Livramento wraps up big Newcastle win vs Wolves
Despite only being 2-0 up in the game, Newcastle felt so relaxed and comfortable both in and out of possession and though Wolves were never really going to get back into it.
The three points were then confirmed after Fabian Schar’s brilliant pass found Livramento who drove from the halfway line into Wolves’ box and then sort of stumbled his way past the defender and eventually rolled it into the back of the net.
Livramento even joked that he wasn’t quite sure what he was doing having found himself in uncharted territory, but it was a great bit of play from the 21-year-old who is making a really good case to be starting.
After what has been a really difficult period for Newcastle they absolutely needed a big result on Saturday and for the players it was good to see something they’d worked on in training come off in a big moment like that.
On the goal, Livramento said: “That was definitely more like Newcastle. The goal is one we work on in training. I didn’t really know what I was doing when I got it but I managed to put it in! Nice to score my first goal for the club – feels like it’s been a while but I’m happy!”

Livramento is a future Newcastle star
From the little time he has had in the first-team it’s quite impressive the impact that Livramento has made and how much the fans already appreciate both his defensive and attacking qualities.
Although it was disappointing to see Trippier forced off with a potential injury yesterday, it gave the young man the perfect opportunity to show what he can do in a more natural position.
He obviously won’t be hoping that his teammate is out for a lengthy period of time, but should Trippier need some time to recover, Newcastle arguably have one of the best backup options in the Premier League.
Newcastle now head to Stamford Bridge to face Livramento’s former team Chelsea and the defender could be keen to show them exactly what they’re missing should Eddie Howe give him another chance to impress.
