Newcastle United take on West Ham United this weekend, as they go in search of four wins in a row.
The Magpies have been exceptional in recent weeks, moving out of the relegation zone thanks to victories against Leeds, Everton and Aston Villa.
The trip to West Ham will be a huge test though, with David Moyes’ side chasing a top four finish. On top of that, Eddie Howe will be without new talisman Kieran Trippier.
So who will start for the Magpies in the capital?
Big chance for Emil Krafth
As we previously mentioned, Trippier will miss the clash at the London Stadium. He fractured a bone in his foot against Aston Villa, and could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
That’s a huge blow for Newcastle, who’ve been somewhat reliant on Trippier since his arrival.
And with Javi Manquillo out too, Howe will have to turn to third choice right-back Emil Krafth. The Swede came on against Villa and did well, but has huge boots to fill in Trippier’s absence.
Matt Targett returns
One player who will be able to play against West Ham is Matt Targett. The left-back wasn’t eligible to feature against his parent club Aston Villa.
However, he should immediately return to the starting XI. He was solid on his debut against Everton, and Newcastle’s injury woes mean it’s vital he starts.
They should be the only changes in defence, despite Jamaal Lascelles’ return to training. Fabian Schar and Dan Burn played brilliantly last time out, and deserve to continue their partnership. That means the 28-year-old captain will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Bruno remains on the bench
While fans are desperate to see more of him, Bruno Guimaraes should remain on the bench against West Ham.
Howe’s current midfield three have been excellent in the past two games – dropping any of them would be incredibly harsh.
Hopefully Bruno gets more minutes this weekend, but he will likely have to settle for a place on the bench to begin with.
