Newcastle United have been very bad at times this season. But the defeat to Brighton was as bad as it’s got. And that’s saying a lot considering we lost to Sheffield United.
In a huge relegation six-pointer, the Magpies showed absolutely no fight.
Newcastle had a chance to move away from the relegation zone, but didn’t even come close to getting a result against Brighton.

It was a woeful performance by Steve Bruce’s side, and one that has to signal the end for the manager.
And according to former Magpie Ryan Taylor, the club needs to be rebuilt ‘from top to bottom’.
Taylor is spot on. While most fans would maybe use more colourful language, last night was ‘really bad’ for Newcastle.
There was no fight at all. No determination. No desire to get three points.
Yet again, Newcastle were set up for a draw. As soon as Brighton scored, you could tell the game was over.
In the short-term, Newcastle just need to survive. We’ve got nine games to go, and our fate remains in our own hands. We’re two points clear of Fulham with an extra game to play.

Long-term, Newcastle need some ambition. Sadly, that is only going to come with a takeover.
As long as Mike Ashley remains, relegation battles will continue.
The owner has stuck by Bruce for too long. But the defeat to Brighton should seriously worry him. If he wants Newcastle to stay in the Premier League then he needs to change managers.
