Rio Ferdinand has stated that even Newcastle United fans were left in shock over Joelinton’s goal tonight against AC Milan.
The 27-year-old midfielder was the star of the show for the Toon as the Brazilian’s sensational volley gave Newcastle the lead at St. James Park against the Italian giants.
And speaking on TNT Sports’ coverage of the UEFA Champions League match, Ferdinand admitted that Newcastle fans at the stadium were amazed by how good Joelinton’s goal actually was.

Iit was one of the finest strikes the South American superstar has hit in his entire career, and Newcastle fans were seemingly taken aback by the move, even with the Champions League dream coming to an end tonight.
Ferdinand said: “I think his actual first touch is almost like a bad one and then it just sits up, that’s how he’s able to hit it on the volley, that’s how he’s able to generate that power.
“It’s a fantastic strike. I think a lot of people were surprised, even in the stadium, because he’s not really known to score many goals.”
Joelinton might not score a better goal for Newcastle United

Joelinton’s Newcastle career has been nothing short of incredible, with the former attacker being written off as a flop before becoming one of Eddie Howe’s most important players in a whole new position.
Whilst goals were once Joelinton’s forte, the Brazilian’s new role means such luxuries are now a rarity for the former TSG Hoffenheim forward.
Yet even Joelinton himself will admit that he might not score a better goal for Newcastle than he did tonight against Milan.
Although the Magpies came up short in qualifying out of the Group of Death, Joelinton will not forget about his goal tonight for quite some time.
