Newcastle are pretty much safe now, so the game against Southampton should be enjoyable.

The win over Leicester on Friday night was huge. The Magpies put in a stunning performance, with Ayoze Perez getting the only goal of the game.

The noise from the travelling support was incredible, as we reached 38 points.

Southampton have also moved away from the relegation zone, two points below us. They had a big win at the weekend, beating Wolves 3-1 at St Mary’s.

So how should Rafa Benitez lineup against an in-form Saints side?

Yedlin to return

Newcastle were rock solid at the King Power Stadium. However, there could be one change this weekend.

Javi Manquillo replaced DeAndre Yedlin, but the American might return to the side. His pace gives Newcastle an extra outlet in attack, which will be important in a home game where we will be expected to take the game to Southampton.

The rest of the defence should remain the same. We were rock solid at the back, with Fabian Schar performing brilliantly, as well as Paul Dummett who came in for the injured Florian Lejeune.

Ki stepped up

Ki Sung-Yueng has struggled since returning to the side after the Asian Cup, but the South Korean looked much better on Friday.

He kept the ball well and fed the creative players, so for that reason should keep his place in the starting XI. And the want-away Isaac Hayden remains undroppable.

This is bad news for Jonjo Shelvey, whose time as a Newcastle player could be coming to an end.

Three amigos can’t be changed

While the likes of Yoshinori Muto deserve some minutes, it’s hard to see Benitez changing his front three.

Almiron looks desperate to score his first Newcastle goal. Hopefully it comes against Southampton.

Predicted starting XI: Dubravka; Schar, Lascelles, Dummett; Yedlin, Hayden, Ki, Ritchie; Perez, Almiron, Rondon.
