Newcastle can put a disappointing week behind them when they travel to Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Magpies have been up and down, on and off the pitch since the West Ham defeat. There was the highs of drawing at Everton, then the lows of losing to Wolves. There was also the highs of a possible takeover, then the lows of that takeover failing to come to fruition.

Whether Mike Ashley is set to sell the club remains up in the air, so all we can do is switch our attentions to the pitch.

The game against Huddersfield could be crucial in Newcastle’s bid for survival.

Four at the back

DeAndre Yedlin and Federico Fernandez will miss the game due to suspension and injury respectively. On a more positive note, Fabian Schar is back from suspension.

However, the Swiss defender may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Rafa Benitez may have to revert back to a defensive four, with Paul Dummett and Javi Manquillo operating as full-backs. Meanwhile, we think Ciaran Clark is most likely to partner captain Jamaal Lascelles.

Atsu to get another chance against Huddersfield

One of the more encouraging things lately has been the improved form of Christian Atsu. The Ghanaian showed flashes of talent against Everton, then managed to take momentum into the defeat against Wolves.

Atsu is starting to look back to his best, running at defenders and creating chances for his teammates. His form should be rewarded with another start. However, that would mean that Kenedy remains on the bench.

The Brazilian was slightly to blame for Wolves’ winner on Sunday, and failed to have any impact offensively.

Can Perez pick up where he left off?

While some berated him for losing the ball in the build up to Wolves’ winner, Ayoze Perez actually had a decent game last time out.

The Spaniard looked a lot more mature, and took his goal brilliantly. Hopefully he can get on the score-sheet once again, with his tally currently at two. He’ll likely play just behind top scorer Salomon Rondon.

Predicted lineup to face Huddersfield: Dubravka; Manquillo, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett; Ritchie, Diame, Ki, Atsu; Perez, Rondon.
