Newcastle are desperately searching for a first win of the season, and will be hoping Crystal Palace are the victims.

The Magpies were woeful in defeat to Arsenal. It’s been four defeats and one draw so far this season, and the 2-1 loss to the Gunners was Newcastle’s worst performance.

Many players failed to impress at St James’ Park, which could force Rafa Benitez to make some changes ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.

Lascelles injured?

Things fell apart when he departed, and fans will be sweating on his fitness. The defender does appear to be in training, but will be replaced by Ciaran Clark if the skipper is deemed not fit to start.

Shelvey and Kenedy to return?

Jonjo Shelvey spent the full 90 minutes on the bench against Arsenal, in a game where Newcastle lacked a forward pass.

The 26-year-old should return to the starting line up, likely in the place of Isaac Hayden.

Kenedy was another player who started on the bench last week, but was used as a substitute in the second half. While the Brazilian didn’t impress as a sub, he should come back into the starting XI.

Jacob Murphy was weak going forward, looking unable to carve out any sort of chance, whereas we know Kenedy can be creative despite his unpredictability.

Rondon in, Joselu out

Salomon Rondon returned late from international duty, meaning he started on the bench last week. Joselu struggled against Arsenal, with a distinct lack of service coming his way. Rondon is more of a presence up front, and should start in place of the Spaniard.

Predicted XI to face Palace: Dubravka; Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett; Ritchie, Diame, Shelvey, Kenedy; Perez, Rondon
