Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe has raved about a moment of magic he saw from Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron during his side’s Carabao Cup win over Leicester City.
In the 72nd minute of play, the Paraguay international threaded a beautifully placed ball behind the Foxes defence for Joelinton to latch onto – putting the Magpies two goals up.
Astonished by the 28-year-old’s assist, Hinchcliffe lauded Almiron’s phase of play whilst speaking on commentary for Sky Sports.
“The weight of the pass from Almiron is outstanding,” he said.
“It’s weighted into the path of Joelinton, so he doesn’t have to control it or take a touch.
“He can have a look at the target and decide how he wants to finish it.
“Almiron has given him that luxury due to the weight of the pass.”
Almiron excels against Leicester
Earning an impressive 7.9 SofaScore match rating for his performance, the attacker was one of the best players on the pitch for Eddie Howe’s side.
In 84 minutes of play, the Paraguayan had two shots on target and successfully completed 100% of his dribbles.
Taking 33 touches of the ball, he completed 88% of his passes, which included four key passes for Newcastle.
Assisting for the Toon’s second goal of the game, Almiron seems to have maintained his electric form from the first half of the season.
Therefore, it is no surprise to see the Magpies attack terrorising Premier League defences, with their right-winger at the top of his game.
Hopefully he can bring this type of performance into the side’s semi-final clash.
