Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to single out Karl Darlow as one of few positives from Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton.
The former Nottingham Forest glovesman helped keep Southampton’s tally down to just two goals, having been required to make five saves against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s in-form side.

Strikes from Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong sent the Saints to the top of the Premier League, on an evening where Steve Bruce’s men simply failed to turn up.
Newcastle had four shots in comparison to Southampton’s 15, and also had just 39.3% of possession at St Mary’s according to WhoScored.
SofaScore shows that two of Darlow’s five saves came from shots inside the box.
The man who earns £25,000-a-week at St James’ Park (Spotrac) notably came to his side’s rescue when tipping Oriol Romeu’s long-range drive onto the crossbar, while his save from Jan Bednarek’s header was also impressive.

Darlow was one of very, very few Newcastle players who could leave the south coast with their head held high.
The Magpies ended Friday evening in 11th place in the Premier League.
Sadly, the result was made all the more disappointing by the fact that last week’s display against Everton was so encouraging – Bruce has to ensure his side finds some consistency after they play well.
Let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about his performance…
