Newcastle United made light work of Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Eddie Howe’s side booked their spot in a second Carabao Cup final in two years by beating the Gunners at St James’ Park.
Newcastle were brilliant throughout and ultimately cruised into next month’s final with a 4-0 aggregate victory.
Indeed, Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 at St James’ thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon.
It was a brilliant evening for the club, while there appeared to be at least some element of needle throughout.
Newcastle fans mocked Mikel Arteta and there were a number of fearsome challenges between the players. Kieran Trippier and Kai Havertz clashed on numerous occasions.
Part of the reason why the home support mocked the Gunners boss comes from his comments following the first leg last month.
Arteta claimed the Carabao Cup ball was different to the one used in the Premier League, which may have impacted Arsenal’s finishing.
Naturally, Toon fans reminded Arteta of that, while the club itself have poked further fun at him.

Newcastle United appear to mock Mikel Arteta after Carabao Cup win over Arsenal
Celebrating the victory, the Newcastle United official X account had their say.
After the full-time whistle, they posted an image of the ball in the back of net following one of the goals and captioned it: “The culprit.”
Given the sheer amount of needle between the two clubs over the last few years, that felt particularly sweet.
Arteta’s side were outplayed and outfought.
Arsenal fans blown away by Newcastle United star Alexander Isak
Arsenal supporters would not have enjoyed their evening, with the club’s social media post above only likely to fan the flames.
It must have been galling to see Alexander Isak’s performance too. The Newcastle striker is constantly linked with the Gunners but remains a thorn in their side.
Arsenal fans were blown away by Isak for making William Saliba look little more than ordinary.
All in all, it was not a nice evening for the north London giants.
