Rodrigo Vilca showcased his talents to Newcastle United by scoring for the under-23s in their win against Stoke City this evening.

The Magpies ran out 3-2 winners with the Peruvian trickster scoring his team’s second goal of the night.

Yannick Toure and Stan Flaherty bagged the other two goals.

The Daily Mail claimed that the 21-year-old cost Newcastle just £250,000 when he checked in from Deportivo Municipal during the summer transfer window.

Vilca doesn’t boast any real senior experience. He made just 29 appearances for his former club before being snapped up by the Magpies.

He typically operates in the No.10 role but has highlighted his ability to play on the right-wing if called upon.

Prior to this evening, Vilca had made five appearances for the under-23s without finding the net.

He’s now off the mark and the hope will be that he eventually steps up to Steve Bruce’s ranks in the near future.

Some supporters had wondered whether he might be called up this weekend, with the numbers likely to be depleted.

His appearance tonight puts that notion to bed, however.

Following his goal, supporters took to Twitter and they seem happy with the impact of the Peruvian.

Here is what the Newcastle faithful were saying about the starlet.
