Some Newcastle United fans on social media are in agreement about Eddie Howe’s position at the club.
Howe is arguably Newcastle United‘s greatest-ever manager and talking about his position in such terms is a difficult thing for supporters.
Clearly, there’s no suggestion Howe is under pressure on the inside at St James’ Park. In fact, Geordie Boot Boys understands that Howe has the full backing of the Newcastle United owners.
Still, Newcastle are struggling this season. They’ve only beaten Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Fulham in the Premier League and remain without an away victory in the competition since April.
The Champions League has been a positive for Newcastle this season but, in truth, they’ve had favourable fixtures up until this point.
Newcastle’s defeat away at Brentford on Sunday has led to supporters asking some difficult questions.

Newcastle United fans think Eddie Howe will be under pressure soon
Supporters on social media platform X believe the Newcastle United manager will be under pressure soon if things don’t improve.
One angry supporter wrote: “Serious questions need to be asked. Just not good enough all over the park. That credit in the bank isn’t going to last forever for Howe.”
“I’ve been fairly consistent in saying I back him to turn it around but, I’m just not seeing anything to support that. Questions have to at least start being asked,” said another fan.
One supporter wrote: “I love him. He won us a cup. But he has to be under pressure. Massive pressure.”
The uncomfortable truth Newcastle United fans face about Eddie Howe
Prior to the game, Howe admitted he was “uncomfortable” with Newcastle United’s place in the Premier League table.
To have then not changed much following the West Ham debacle speaks volumes. Howe has been too loyal to his players this season, with many of them underperforming.
Howe deserves time at Newcastle. Even talking about him in this context is difficult.
Still, Newcastle want to be a big club and, so far, they’re failing. Howe should face criticism, regardless of what he’s done in the past. It’s too early to say that things are going stale but after four years at the club, it would not be a surprise if they really did.
The away form hasn’t been good enough for months. Premier League performances haven’t been good enough all season.
There is no point in sugar-coating it. Howe is in the biggest crisis of his Newcastle tenure thus far.
