Newcastle United face Liverpool at Anfield – and the team news is in.

The Magpies are in Merseyside looking to cause a big upset tonight.

Newcastle were comfortably beaten at the weekend by Leicester City, and Howe probably couldn’t have asked for a worst fixture to follow.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are flying in the Premier League.

They currently sit second, four points behind leaders Manchester City. They are the most potent team in the league with 45 goals scored in 16.

Newcastle have the joint-worst defensive record, with 34 conceded in 16 games.

There is potential for it to get messy, but all Toon fans ask is that the players give their absolute all.

Newcastle team news – Callum Wilson on the bench

Eddie Howe has made three changes to the side that lost to the Foxes on Saturday.

Martin Dubravka is in goal and protected by a back four of Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Jamal Lewis.

The midfield sees Isaac Hayden come in for Joe Willock, with Jonjo Shelvey his partner in the engine room.

Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy come into the side, with Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson dropping out.

Wilson starting on the bench is undoubtedly the big news for the visitors.

Howe is certainly taking a big risk. But we know Wilson’s record with injuries, and it is really important he stays fit.

The star has played 90 minutes in each of the last eight Premier league games, and so that could be the reason for the rotation.

That puts big pressure on Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton as the two up top.

On the face of it, it looks like a 4-4-2, although Joelinton could well drop in with ASM to be the sole outlet for the counter-attack.

For Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones are all absent from their matchday squad.
