Callum Wilson scored a sensational goal to earn Newcastle a point against Crystal Palace.

Graeme Jones kicked off his spell as interim manager with a draw, with VAR saving his side late on.

It was a poor performance from Newcastle, who struggled in their first game without Steve Bruce.

There were a lot of similar problems, with the Magpies struggling to keep possession. They did look more solid though, setting up with a back five.

It was a moment of inspiration that saved Newcastle, as Wilson scored his fourth goal of the season.

A corner kick fell into the path of the number nine, who looped a beautiful overhead kick into the top corner.

It was an incredible goal, and the kind of magic moment that we needed on a tough afternoon at Selhurst Park.

While Newcastle have been poor this season, Wilson is very much living up to the number nine shirt. The 29-year-old was given it over the summer, with Joelinton vacating the jersey.

Wilson’s season has already been interrupted by injury, but he will certainly be pleased with his tally so far.

The overhead kick is the best goal Wilson has scored since joining Newcastle, and it will surely be a contender for goal of the month.

While the result was disappointing, Toon fans were absolutely stunned by Wilson’s point-rescuing strike.
