Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the performance of James Tarkowski yesterday for Burnley.
The central defender was back in the starting XI for the Clarets after missing the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek through suspension.
Tarkowski, of course, has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle.
So it was always going to be interesting to watch him trot out at St. James’ Park and play.
Thankfully from a Newcastle staying in the Premier League perspective, Tarkowski didn’t play out of his skin yesterday.
But he was certainly very impressive for the visitors.
Sofascore had him as the highest-rated player of anyone to feature in yesterday’s game (7.8).
According to their data, he won 12 duels, made six blocks (most of anybody) and four clearances.
It was a rather typical, solid display from the former Brentford rock, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
If Newcastle recruitment officials were scouting yesterday, they surely had to have liked what they saw.

Ironically, Newcastle were able to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League for the first time this season.
But it is clear that £50,000-a-week ace Tarkowski would significantly improve the Magpies at the back.
