Newcastle fans react to Florian Lejeune shocker

In hindsight, four games in 12 days was a bit much for Florian Lejeune.

The Frenchman returned to the team against Crystal Palace on December 21st and has had to play every minute since. After a strong return, things have slowly got worse for Lejeune, who is clearly way off the pace after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

He struggled against Everton, often looking like he was running through treacle. The treacle was there again against Leicester, but this time he had cement on his feet as well.

Newcastle hadn’t started the game too badly, then two mistakes from the defender in a short period of time handed the Foxes a 2-0 advantage before the break.

With other injuries to Jetro Willems, Javi Manquillo and Fabian Schar, Lejeune once again had to play the full 90 minutes. He desperately needs a rest, with the Magpies in action yet again on Saturday in the FA Cup versus Rochdale.

It’s great to have Lejeune back in the fold, but the festive period has proved to be too much for him physically.
