Newcastle picked up another point on Saturday, but Joselu did his best to make it three.

The Spaniard was a halftime substitute, coming off the bench to replace Salomon Rondon. The on-loan forward struggled at Selhurst Park, whereas Joselu was lively up top.

He didn’t receive much service in the second half, but looked the Newcastle player most likely to create something.

Goal of the season chance

Newcastle’s best chance of the second half fell to Joselu, when a neat move forwards saw Matt Ritchie pick out his teammate with a header.

Joselu, like Ronaldo or Gareth Bale, threw his body in the air and hit an almost impeccable overhead kick. Sadly, the effort was straight at Wayne Hennessey.

But the former Stoke player remained industrious throughout, working hard up top as Newcastle defended for their lives once again.

He also had a penalty shout turned down, doing a lot more than Rondon did during the first half.

What did Newcastle fans have to say about Joselu?

While he may not be the most talented forward in the world, Joselu has impressed so far this season, and looked much more of a threat than Rondon did.

The thing that will annoy fans is that Joselu’s hard work came on another day when Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic scored having left the club this summer.
