Newcastle United have lost 3-1 against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Steve Bruce could not deliver three points on his 1000th game as a manager, and speculation will now be heavy about his position.

The afternoon could not have started better.

Callum Wilson gave the hosts the lead inside two minutes.

But Tanguy Ndombele then equalised for Spurs with a great striker from the edge of the box, and Harry Kane then sprung the offside trap and dinked the ball over Karl Darlow.

The England captain was initially flagged offside, but VAR corrected the call.

The game was then momentarily suspended as some worrying scenes began to unfold.

A supporter in the stands required medical attention and was taken to hospital after medical staff had tended to them. Thankfully news arrived that they were stabilised after the game had restarted.

Spurs then hit a third through Heung-min Son.

The second-half was a painful watch, and Jonjo Shelvey, brought on as a substitute, was sent off for two bookable offenses.

There was brief hope of a Newcastle fightback when Eric Dier put into his own net just before injury-time.

But the visitors held on, and questions are now being asked about Bruce.
