Newcastle fans react as Dylan Stephenson shines for the U23s

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to Dylan Stephenson’s performance for the U23s.

Chris Hogg’s side were in Premier League 2 Division 2 action against Birmingham City at Nuneaton Borough’s Liberty Way.

It was an emphatic performance from the Toon youngsters, who ran out 4-0 winners.

Charlie Wiggett, signed this summer, got the ball rolling before Stephenson struck shortly before half-time after a good ball from Matt Bondswell.

Life was made a little easier for Newcastle when Rico Browne was sent off for Birmingham following a last-man challenge on Joe White.

Caolan Boyd-Munce then scored an own goal for the Blues, before Stephenson rounded things off by sliding the ball home from close-range for his brace.

It’s been a great start to the season for Stephenson, who has three goals from his first two games.

The Blyth-born winger’s development will be under close inspection this season.

The star regularly caught the eye last term, his FA Youth Cup first-half hat-trick against Leeds United a particular highlight.
