Karl Darlow has exceeded expectations this season. But it’s time for a change.

The goalkeeper has come under a lot of pressure from fans over the past week, and that pressure will only increase after his latest performance.

Darlow struggled at Old Trafford, as Newcastle fell to a 3-1 defeat.

Despite a positive first half, the Magpies lost again, leaving the gap between themselves and Fulham at three points.

Surprisingly, Newcastle actually started the game very well. We were forcing mistakes from Manchester United, pressing them high up the pitch.

Then an error from Darlow handed the home side the lead.

Marcus Rashford raced past Emil Krafth, something he did too many times to count, before hammering the ball into the bottom corner to open the scoring.

It was a powerful finish, but Darlow should have done a lot better at his near post.

He was beaten at his near post again for Manchester United’s second – the goal that ended Newcastle’s hopes of at least a point.

Even for the penalty, Darlow could be criticised. While he might not have saved it even if he’d gone the right way, he produced some sort of strange forwards dive that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before.

Darlow has had a wonderful season. Particularly in the opening few weeks he was outstanding.

Had it not been for his performances, we’d be a lot worse off than we already are, what is a terrifying thought.

But in recent weeks, he hasn’t looked as confident, and the cracks are starting to show.

While Darlow has had a great season, Martin Dubravka is the best goalkeeper at the club.

Many fans were disappointed with Darlow’s performance against Manchester United, and believe it’s time for a change in between the sticks.

However, there’s a bigger change needed on the touchline…

Newcastle fans want Dubravka to replace Darlow
