It was a frustrating night as Newcastle United lost 1-0 to Manchester City, and the Magpies’ performance was summed up by Miguel Almiron’s struggles.
The Paraguayan was full of running at the Etihad, but flattered to deceive in the final third.
Almiron picked up some great positions throughout the game and was one of few Newcastle attackers to find space up against a very strong Manchester City defence. However, he failed to do anything with the opportunities he was given. His decision making was incredibly poor, with the 29-year-old choosing the wrong pass or getting his timing wrong on so many occasions.
It was so frustrating to watch, as there was real hope going into this game. Newcastle fans had confidence that they could go to the Etihad and get something, but in the end it was a limp performance from Eddie Howe’s side.
The Magpies were very poor in attack, one week after being so ruthless against Aston Villa.

Newcastle fans frustrated with Miguel Almiron’s performance against Man City
There were a lot of underwhelming performances in black and white, but the player who struggled the most was Almiron.
He was a revelation on the right wing last season, but his one-footedness was there for all to see on Saturday night.
Time and time again he had the chance to do something dangerous, but he was hindered by the fact he has no confidence in using his right foot. It makes him incredibly one dimensional, as City’s defenders handled him with ease.
It is no secret that Almiron only likes using his left foot, but it was clearer than usual against Man City, much to the dismay of Newcastle fans on social media.

One Toon fan wrote: “Getting subbed for a wingback should be all the motivation Almiron needs to discover his right foot.”
“Don’t know why Almiron even bothered wearing a boot on his right foot,” another supported said.
“A new right winger is a necessity even if it has to be in January. We can’t keep going on with Miggy Almiron he cripples us week in week out,” a third fan remarked.
A fourth added: “He runs down the wing, cuts back onto his left and passes back. Im a thick labourer but even i know what Miguel Almiron is going to do. Hes stealing a wage. Right wing needs improvement!”
“All I’m saying is, there’s still time in the transfer window to sell Almiron and bring in a winger who can actually use his weaker foot,” another fan posted.
Finally, a sixth summed it up by saying: “No point in Almiron having a right foot.”
