After a crushing defeat like the one Newcastle United suffered at the hands of Brighton tonight it’s always hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but Jamie Reuben is trying to shine one of his own.
Newcastle fans will be feeling fairly dejected tonight following that third successive defeat, but for this one it wasn’t just the result, it was the manner in which it came about.
A very lacklustre side struggled to have any real impact on the game. Even ten minutes into the second half when Eddie Howe made several changes to try and break up Brighton‘s dominance, nothing seemed to go right for the Magpies.
Jamie Rueben took the time to praise the fans on X
The Newcastle to Brighton trip is the longest in the Premier League and now so many Newcastle fans face a long, long journey home after watching what could well be the worst performance under Eddie Howe since he rescued us from certain relegation.
However, Co-Owner Jamie Reuben has tried to rally the troops with a message to the fans on X, saying: “Not the result we wanted- thank you to the incredible @NUFC fans who travelled so far and made their voices heard throughout. Credit to @OfficialBHAFC. We will bounce back. #WeAreUnited”

We will bounce back, it’s just a case of when. Hopefully Howe can work on things during the international break so that when we return to action we look more like a team than we did tonight.
Bruno and Tonali aren’t clicking in that midfield
Something just isn’t right at the moment and it seems to be stemming from that midfield where Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes don’t seem to be clicking together. Both seem to want to do the same thing.

Eddie Howe will need to devise a plan to get that pairing to work, but of course both will be on international duty so he’ll not be able to drill it into them during the break.
This feeling, this old feeling of the Steve Bruce days. I’d forgotten it, the feeling of losing several games in a row. Let’s hope it never happens again. We’ve had a tough start to the campaign, now we’re out of it, let’s crack on!
