Newcastle United are looking for their first win of the Premier League season when they head down to Leeds on Saturday.
While performances against Aston Villa and Liverpool have been promising, the fact is that Newcastle United have one point from two Premier League games.
As such, anything other than a win against a newly promoted side would be a huge disappointment.
With the international break to come, Eddie Howe’s side need a win. Three points on the road would represent a solid start to the campaign following a difficult summer but failure to win at Elland Road would change the mood somewhat.
Newcastle have so far done well in testing circumstances. Now, it’s time to win when they are expected to.
With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know.

Date, kick-off time and venue
Leeds vs Newcastle United is scheduled for a 5.30pm BST kick-off time on Saturday 30 August, 2025.
Elland Road in Leeds will host the match.

Leeds vs Newcastle United team news
The hosts could be without summer signing Noak Okafor but he is the only major doubt for Daniel Farke’s side. Sean Longstaff could be in line to play against Newcastle for the first time, having left his boyhood club earlier this summer.
Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka are injured for the hosts.

Sandro Tonali could play for Newcastle against Leeds despite going off with a shoulder injury against Liverpool. That is a huge boost to Howe, who will be missing another star midfielder in Joelinton following his groin injury sustained in the same game.
However, Newcastle are hopeful that Joelinton has avoided a serious injury. Elsewhere, Anthony Gordon is suspended for Newcastle, while Alexander Isak will almost certainly not play.
Jacob Ramsey could make his full debut but Malick Thiaw may need to wait for his after Fabian Schar passed a concussion test.
Nick Woltemade will not be registered in time to make his Newcastle debut.

Leeds vs Newcastle United prediction
Newcastle have to win this. There has been a lot to be positive about already this season and though Gordon’s suspension weakens an already depleted front line, there can be little excuse.
If Newcastle want to be considered in the mix for Champions League qualification, they simply have to beat newly promoted teams. It won’t be easy, and Leeds proved against Everton they are no pushovers, though Howe’s team should have enough.
