There were a few candidates for man of the match in Newcastle’s incredible 3-2 win over Southampton.
Miguel Almiron was brilliant all over the pitch, while Joe Willock had an outstanding debut.
But one man who deserves special praise is Isaac Hayden.
There is no one more reliable than Hayden in the entire Newcastle squad. No matter where he plays, gives it his all.

He was forced out of position yet again against Southampton, slotting into the back four alongside Fabian Schar.
Newcastle had something of a defensive injury crisis, but as usual Mr Reliable Isaac Hayden stepped up to the task.
Steve Bruce’s side had to fight for three points in the second half, and no one epitomised that more than Hayden.
Big interceptions, strong challenges, huge headers – the makeshift centre-back barely put a foot wrong all game.
Is there anyone more important than Hayden?
While Allan Saint-Maximin’s creativity and Callum Wilson’s goals are huge, Hayden’s impact cannot be understated.
So many times he’s been asked to do a job out of position, and the 25-year-old always delivers.
Whether it’s a good day or a bad day for the Magpies, Hayden always leaves it all on the pitch.

His attitude and application is what makes him a fan favourite. There’s no shrugging or sulking when he has to play out of position – he rolls his sleeves up and gets the job done.
Beating Southampton was a huge result for Newcastle – and it might not have been possible without Isaac Hayden’s versatility.
Yet again, he proves why he is one of the most important player at Newcastle United.
And all he cost was £1.5million (Chronicle Live). Bargain.
