Bruno Guimaraes has admitted that he loves playing alongside Allan Saint-Maximin after Newcastle United advanced to the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup.
The Magpies beat Bournemouth 1-0 on their return to competitive action, booking their place in the final eight of the competition.
It was far from an easy game for Eddie Howe’s side. The Cherries did their best to frustrate Newcastle, who were looking to pick up exactly where they left off before the World Cup break.
United needed a stroke of luck to get the winner, with Kieran Trippier’s cross directed in by Adam Smith for an own goal.
Howe put out an incredibly strong team that included the likes of Trippier, Bruno and Callum Wilson. And he also turned to Allan Saint-Maximin early in the second half.

The Frenchman provided an injection of creativity down the left, adding spark to a probing Newcastle attack. And he has been praised by Bruno after the game.
Bruno Guimaraes’ message to Saint-Maximin
Following the League Cup win over Bournemouth, Bruno took to Twitter.
He posted a picture of himself and Saint-Maximin celebrating in the dressing room, and paid tribute to the 25-year-old.
“Love to play with you mon frerot,” he wrote.
‘Mon frerot’ translates to ‘my bro’, and this band of brothers are now just three games away from reaching a domestic cup final. That would be a remarkable achievement.
For Bruno, it was good to see him back in action and look to banish the memory of a disappointing World Cup. And for Maxi, it was a chance for him to force his way back into the starting XI having started the game on the bench.
The Frenchman and the Brazilian combined really well at times, and there was some clever little flicks that had the crowd in awe.
It feels like we haven’t seen this combination at its full potential. Bruno and ASM are special players, and the former has admitted that he loves to play alongside the latter.
Hopefully we see their chemistry together in the upcoming weeks as Newcastle look to continue their special season.
