Fans rave over Billy Gilmour after latest Scotland display, amid Newcastle loan links

Reported Newcastle United target Billy Gilmour was in international action last night, and supporters have been praising the youngster’s showing.

Gilmour, 19, came off the bench at half-time against Luxembourg in the Tartan Army’s final warm-up match before Euro 2020.

It was only his second appearance for his country, and he only got half an hour in the end after a brutal challenge forced him off.

But Gilmour certainly did just that during his time on the pitch, with the Daily Record describing him as ‘a cut above anyone else’.

The Chelsea midfielder showed his class and technical quality, and the Scottish media have now asked the question whether he should be a starter when the tournament kicks off.

Gilmour is reportedly a loan target for Newcastle.

That was the claim from the Northern Echo a couple of weeks ago.

It seems that he would make for a brilliant acquisition by the Magpies, but whether Thomas Tuchel would be willing to let him go remains to be seen.

Apparently he already blocked him from leaving shortly after he arrived at Stamford Bridge.
