Newcastle United are back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Indeed, Eddie Howe’s side proved their statement win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday was no flash in the pan by following that up with a brilliant 1-0 victory against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Alexander Isak’s first-half header was enough following a brilliant ball from Anthony Gordon and Newcastle went on to manage the game very well indeed.

The Gunners may have had a lot of the ball but did not look like scoring very often, aside from good chances for both Mikel Merino and Declan Rice.

As you can imagine, plenty of players were in line for praise. Alan Shearer was delighted with the performances of both Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, while Stuart Pearce was full of praise for Sean Longstaff.

Asked about Hall in particular after the game, Howe was delighted.

Eddie Howe says constantly improving Newcastle star is at such a high level right now

Speaking to TNT Sports at 3.06pm GMT, the Newcastle United manager hailed Hall for his improvement following a difficult start to life at the club.

Howe went on to say that there can be little doubt about the former Chelsea youngster’s quality now.

“I think he has come on in leaps and bounds, but I think Lewis is the one that deserves all the credit,” he said.

“He is the one who had to really dig deep, show real resilience. The level of his game is very high. His technical ability, I think, is undisputed. He is attacking better, but he is creating goals and assists.”

Newcastle struck gold with Lewis Hal transfer

It may have taken Hall a while to get up to speed in black and white, with the player himself admitting that he endured a difficult start to life on Tyneside.

Still, he’s now pretty much the first-choice left-back and also impressed in the defeat to Chelsea last weekend too.

At only 20 years of age, Hall still has plenty of time to develop but is already proving himself as an effective Premier League operator. Patience has indeed been a virtue and the future for both him and the club is very bright.

What a signing.
