David Seaman has made his prediction ahead of Newcastle United’s visit to Leeds United on Saturday for the lunch-time kick-off.
As a Leeds United fan, David Seaman definitely sounded a bit reluctant to predict this one on his Seaman Says Podcast, and it seems like he went with his heart over his head.
Newcastle will be looking to bounce back from their second home defeat of the season at the hands of Arsenal last week. While their performance wasn’t bad perse, they lacked that cutting edge that Arsenal had. We know how much Eddie Howe hates losing and we’ve seen how well the Magpies bounce back after defeats, so hopefully that will happen again.

However, Leeds put up a good fight against Manchester City last week in Sam Allardyce‘s first game in charge despite falling to a defeat. It remains to be seen whether that was Sam changing things up for the better or that was Leeds’ idea of the new manager bounce.
One thing that was pointed out to me this week was that Leeds have dropped into the relegation zone four times this season and each time they have, they’ve jumped straight back out with a win in the following game. This is now the fifth time they’ve fallen into the bottom three, can they make it five in five?
With Newcastle fighting to stave off the late surge from Liverpool and Leeds fighting for their lives it’s going to be a tense game. The Elland Road atmosphere is likely to be very hostile which will obviously work in Leeds’ favour. Lunch time kick offs haven’t been Newcastle’s favourite fixtures this season either, so there are a lot of ifs and buts going into this one.

Maybe that’s why David Seaman couldn’t separate the two saying: “Leeds vs Newcastle on Saturday. We have to get something out of this. All I can see is at most is a point. I’m going with 1-1.”
However, Seaman’s co-host Lynsey Hooper predicted a 3-1 win for Newcastle and Seaman did seem to agree with her, so it sounds like the former England ‘keeper just didn’t want to not back his own team.
There is so much riding on this one for both sides but if it wasn’t for the early kick-off I’d be extremely confident, however I’m never confident when it’s a 12:30pm Saturday fixture, and I think Sam Allardyce adds an extra level of complication, so I think Seaman might be right. Obviously, I’d be much happier with Lynsey Hooper’s prediction coming to pass.
