Newcastle United defender Dan Burn was clearly in a very good mood during his post-match interview with NUFC TV following the 8-0 win over Sheffield United.

Dan Burn is certainly a character amongst the Newcastle squad, famed for his hilarious Gazza impression when the lads booked their Wembley date in the Carabao Cup last season.

Now, following the record breaking victory over Sheffield United where Newcastle came out 8-0 winners with eight different scorers, the Geordie left-back has given another gold interview with NUFC TV.

Burn says it was nice to get a goal early in the season for a change

Burn got himself on the scoresheet nabbing the second goal of the game. In the interview he was asked if it was a doubly special day for him keeping a clean sheet and getting a goal.

The 6’7″ giant gave an hilarious response to bagging a goal before turning his attention to his defensive partner saying: “Yeah nice, it’s nice to get one early. I’m normally hanging on towards the end, panicking. Yeah, obviously I’m still going for [Alan] Shearer’s record but we’ll see if we get there.

“Really happy with the lads, buzzing for Sven [Botman] as well, he’s been getting a lot of stick in the changing room for not scoring so hopefully it’s the first of many.”

Kieran Trippier wrote himself into the record books too

It has unbelievably taken 50 appearances for Sven Botman to get on the scoresheet for Newcastle, but hopefully now he’s found where those nets are in the Premier League there’ll be no stopping him.

Surely it will be pretty easy for him if Kieran Trippier keeps pinging in balls of the quality he did tonight. The Newcastle captain became on the second player in Premier League history to provide three assists for headed goals in one game.

It’s just a race now to see who beats Shearer’s record first, Burn or Botman.
