Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes usually celebrates a victory with a post on Instagram, but it seems that Twitter is his outlet when things don’t go according to plan.

Saturday was a day the Geordies would rather forget as they fell to a 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa. In truth it could have been much worse with the woodwork coming to Newcastle‘s aid twice and a goal ruled out by VAR for the hosts too.

We had to wait but Bruno eventually posted something on social media

After the game Newcastle’s corner of social media was eerily quiet compared to recent weeks, but Bruno Guimaraes did put out a tweet at 9:25pm with his thoughts, saying: “Frustrated by our performance today! Next week we are back at home and we need your support as always. With you NUFC”

It took until the sun had set on this awful day, but we knew Bruno wouldn’t let a game pass without addressing the fans in some way.

His call for the Toon Army to back the lads next week isn’t exactly a necessary one, but at the same time, it’s always good to know how much the fans mean to the players and that it’s not just a one-way street.

Next week sees the lads back at home after a three game streak of away fixtures and the Toon Army will be fired up for it without a doubt, especially given that a win next week would open up a six point gap in the race for the Champions League spots.

Tottenham look shaky too going down to a 3-2 defeat against Bournemouth at home. Newcastle should be able to exploit that frailty at St James’ Park, even off the back of this disappointing performance.
